Elevator regulation in Jacksonville

Elevator safety in Jacksonville is overseen by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Bureau of Elevator Safety under Chapter 399, Florida Statutes, and Rule Chapter 61C-5, Florida Administrative Code. DBPR licenses elevator contractors, inspects registered elevators, and maintains the statewide registry of maintenance-company attributions per installation. The consolidated City of Jacksonville / Duval County handles building-level permits through its Building Inspection Division, but contractor licensing and elevator-specific enforcement run through DBPR at the state level.
