Elevator outages in Vienna
Vienna's U-Bahn, tram, and bus network runs one of Europe's more accessible transit systems, with lift status tracked through Wiener Linien's public open-data feed. Elevator Uptime surfaces those outages alongside rider-submitted reports in a single public record. Report a broken elevator in 15 seconds. No account, no email.
Outage history — last 12 months
237 recorded outages across tracked Vienna buildings. Record begins April 2026.
Each bar counts outages by the month they began, drawn from regulatory records and live-feed archives. A month with no bar had no recorded outages in our data — not necessarily zero real outages.

Lift outages in Vienna
Transit lift availability across the Wiener Linien network — covering U-Bahn stations, selected tram stops, and interchange points — is published through Wiener Linien's open data and the Vienna open-data portal (data.gv.at). Austria's accessibility framework is grounded in the Bundes-Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz (BGStG), which prohibits discrimination on grounds of disability and sets obligations for accessible public infrastructure and services.
For residential and commercial buildings, lift maintenance obligations sit with building owners and Hausverwaltungen (property managers) under Austrian tenancy law (Mietrechtsgesetz, MRG). Outages at Wiener Linien-covered stations are added to the public record here as they appear on the agency feed; outages in other buildings are added as riders and building staff submit them.
How to report a broken lift in Vienna
- Wiener Linien U-Bahn and transit stations: Wiener Linien customer service or the accessibility information line
- Residential tenants (Mietwohnung): contact your Hausverwaltung; persistent issues can be escalated to the Schlichtungsstelle für wohnrechtliche Angelegenheiten
- Public buildings: contact the responsible Magistratsabteilung or the Behindertenanwalt (disability ombudsman)
- Any building, public record: file an outage on Elevator Uptime in 15 seconds
